    Alternatives to Marlin Spike Hitch?

I have converted my ENO's to Whoopie Slings and can't believe I waited so long. A couple of hangs have convinced me that the Whoopies are here to stay for me. What I'm not 100% sold on is the marlin spike hitch. I'm aware of the Dutch Buckles and Hooks. What other options are there?

basic climbing carabiner. Flip the end of the tree hugger around the tree and clip the biner through the loops. Clip in the whoopie.

I recently did the same thing. For the last year I've been using continuous loop/SMC ring in the end channels and webbing to the ring like Ray Mears style siberian and half hitch knots. I switched to whoopies recently and find my whoopie comes off the MSH occassionally when not under load. I just tied a short piece of zing it below the MSH and it keeps the adjustable loop of the whoopie in place and I have not had any issues since I started doing this. I was reluctant to add another piece of hardware.

I take a small loop of shock cord that is around the webbing above the knot, twist it and then run it over knot and past the toggle to below the knot. It secures the loop while still letting it slide freely. A thread I did to illustrate is below. Simple, light & cheap.

I like the dutch buckles, keeps my webbing nice and rolled up while in storage.
