A tarp big enough to cover the ridgerunner AND a dirt bike? Superfly? Kelty noah 12'?

    Hey there

About to buy my second hammock and I've decided on a Ridgerunner.

I ride a dirt bike and would love to cover it with the same tarp at night, as i tend to leave all my riding gear draped over the bike.

I have read lots of posts about tarps that will cover both a bike/bicycle and a hammock.
The problem is that the ridgerunner already necessitates a larger tarp (11x10 cloudburst or similar) just for hammock coverage.

In the other threads, most members are recommending tarps such as wilderness logics big daddy or simply light bikers bliss to use with normal gathered end hammocks and bikes. These tarps are already the same size as the cloudburst, so not much help.

    So my questions are...

    1. Would a bike fit under a cloudburst (11'x10') next to a ridgerunner in porch mode? If not...
    2. What tarp or what sized type would be recommended?

Keeping in mind, I think I will need a ridgeline of at least 11', but perhaps need more width than 10'.
EDIT: cant edit the title, but just realised the superfly is also only 10' wide. More of a cloudburst + doors than an overall bigger tarp

Right now the only option I can think of is a kelty noah 12. This isn't ideal due to bulk, but not a deal breaker right now as I'm mostly car camping. Would love to have a more compact option for future off-the-bike travelling though

    Thanks

Hum. It's going to be hard to find a tarp wide enough without the bike being right up against the hammock. Couldn't you get one of the vendors make you a cover that would fit over the bike?

Definitely going to be a challenge. Maybe a WD13 with end pole mod. Maybe..

That's a new one as far as tarp design requirements go! Maybe you could get a custom tarp made, but it won't be light, and it won't be compact. If the tarp is in porch mode, you won't be able to do much to combat blowing precipitation.

I wonder if it might be simpler to carry a second tarp. Yes, that is extra weight, but it seems to be a simple solution.

Weight usually isn't as huge an issue with a biker as it is with a hiker. Storage space may be an issue though.

The Noah's 12 will almost work but, a regular moto bike cover will work great and can be used in lots of other instances.

    Thanks guys.

I have considered a regular moto cover, but would rather not use one.
For starters, all my motocross gear (armour, pants, helmet etc) drapes nicely over the bike at the end of a day riding. This helps it all dry out from the sweat/mud I've inevitably caked on throughout the day. It would be nice to keep things simple in terms of set up too.

I'm considering a cloudburst or superfly, and asking for some extra tie outs on the short sides so that I can do a kind of off centre ridgeline. In all but the worst rain, this would probably be fine.
In torrential/sideways downpours I guess I can always leave the bike out in the rain and stack my gear under the hammock while I close up everything.

I've moved my question over to the tarp forum for some extra opinions too. Thanks again

This is exactly what I would do. Get the cloudburst for the ridgrunner and get an edge tarp for your bike and any other miscellaneous items you want to store. This option is easy and gives you more flexibility.
