Anyone take a PL and make a SL full length or 3/4 out of it for summer camping? Does it make sense or waste of space and weight. I wondering what is the lower limit on SL PLUQ?
Thoughts, designs, plans....
Thanks,

Not done it, but based on the double-layer no-sew version's comfort level, I'd say it'd probably be good down into the mid-fifties for most folks as a single layer.
Honestly, at that temperature, a modified Garlington Insulator can get you almost the same temperature performance and nearly the same comfort (you may experience some condensation; I did, but am a pretty sweaty dude most of the time) for ~16 oz less (a cheapo space blanket'll be about 4 oz).
As long as you're comfortable with double-purposing your poncho (which means you may not have it for those midnight bush watering runs without difficulty), it's a great way to save weight.
I show one off at about 8:35 in this video:

My current underquilt is two (2) Poncho liners, full length, no-sew. Keeps me warm into the 40s. Very easy to construct...tie all ties to eachother to keep the layers together, run some shock cord line through the end channels to gather the ends (I have no lines running the length of the UQ). It's very easy to suspend also...I use a Lash-it prussiked onto another piece of Lash-it, attached to hammock suspension end with a s-biner.
I have also added some small pieces of velcro around the length to keep the layers near eachother.
Not as an under quilt but once I strung one diagonally over my blackbird like an over cover, worked pretty good
