Nylon Ripstop Weight

I was thinking that I had 1.1 light weight ripstop nylon from Walmart. Olive drab, uncoated best I can tell. Somewhat see thru. No water tests as of yet.

I cut a fold test piece 1'x4' and had a scrap 1'x1'.

I weighed them both using a triple beam calibrated to the gram. Each averaged out at 6.5 grams per sq ft.

So 6.5 x 9 = 58.5 grams per sq yd = 2.06 oz per sq yd

Thinking the material slightly dusty maybe and with oil from my hands would it be safe to say I have 1.9 material?

All of the 1.9 oz. I've seen at Walmart has some sort of coating on it...mine comes out between 1.9 and 2.1 oz. /yd. when I weigh it. I've never seen 1.9 oz. that you could see through, though.
