awesome didnt think of it that way, going to have to try that. guess Im behind in class, have to catch up. : )
but not really sure how that would work with shock cord for tension? maybe prusik the shock cord too?
with tensioners you shouldn't need the prusiks, but you could just reverse your lines and put tensioners at the stakes.

In theory Whoopies could be a cool idea for tarp guy lines (the more Whoopies the better right?). But as someone already mentioned, I think the closest to the ground you could pitch your tarp would be 9-12 inches (depending on the length of your constrictor.
I know a lot of folks like shock cord for self-tensioning lines, or prussiks. However, I find a simple taut line hitch is quick and easy. Plus, it give me some knot tying practice.
I have 1.8 zingit whoopies on all of my tarps. The load is much less than on hammock suspension so my bury is only around 3in long. Never had any slippage nor are they hard to adjust under load wet or frozen for that matter. I self tension by tieing a shock cord loop around the tie out then attaching the dead eye. But, if I need to get real snug to the ground I just stake the shock cord.
Directionally challenged...comicly so.
Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.
I have whoopies 1.75 zing-it on all tarp ties. for ground pitch wrap whoopies around anchor and soft shackle at tarp tie out
I have whoopies on my tarps and I like them. I have never thought I couldn't pitch close enough to the ground. In rain storms I've had no issues adjusting them from inside the tarp. Those seem to be the big reasons people recommend not using them, but I've found neither to be an issue. With that said I have wanted to (just haven't had time) switch to a line with a Prussik on it...

I enjoy the prussic method, FOR NOW.
Until the next best thing comes along or I just want to do something different.
That is one of the things I enjoy about a hammock and tarp, besides the great sleep!
