Having applied hundreds of yards , if not a thousand plus, of omnitape to EVA foam, as well as foam to foam proto type tests,... I'm here to advise you, Two Thin Layers definately works better than one layer with Weldwood Contact cement...

For quick and dirt applications, or questionable durability one thin layer would prolly be fine.... However, I will add that I have separated test sections done with one layer... maybe it was flawed in the application but I doubt it, though we all make a mistake here or there....

Bottom line: Two thin layers has never failed or never been warrantee claimed.... It pays to do it right.

Thanks all for the advise and comments, I need it to be a finished size that will fit into my ULA pack nicely and will not take up a lot of space from within the pack. Hook and loop may be the way to go glued in place as described above.

When I did similar things with pads years ago, I found that even if the adhesive holds to the ccf, the ccf could tear like you were ripping the skin off of it just under the adhesive. That junction was still weaker than the ccf pad itself. It might be strong enough for you application, and then again it might not.

What I am trying to say is that even a successful adhesive technique so that you can accordion fold it will not result in a laid out ccf pad that is everything a solid pad is in terms of durability/strength. You give up something when you do that.
