    no going back

long time camper new to hammocks. Found this little guy at walmart, not sure why i bought it. Threw it in the canoe with the rest of my gear, and off i went. Camp was set up fire wood was gathered, then my a.d.d. kicked in. Looking for something to do i rembered that i bought a hammock. Set it up for the frist time. This thing made me laugh, no way this will hold me. Then i went for it... Well after a long nap i woke up feelin good. Moved all my gear from the tent to the hammock. Spent the next three days playing in,on,and around the hammock. Since then the tent has stayed home. I found Shugs videos online then this forum. Now i cant stop looking at U.Q. , nylon, thread injectors. I went though my closet looking for down that i could rob, YEA IAM HOOKED

    Welcome; great first experience.

I haven't yet had a chance to canoe camp with hammock but looking forward to being able to hit shore and just look for suitable trees versus a flat spot for a tent.

    good to have you here!
when you upgrade to a nicer hammock, that one will still work well as a "gear sling" to keep your pack and sundries off the ground.

I took my hammock up to the BWCA and loved being able to read and take a nap in it, I still slept in the tent because i did not have a UQ and it got pretty cold while we were up there. I have been working on a UQ to stay warmer.

    Welcome to the hanging group.

My first hammock was the one from Walmart as well. Same thing - the first night's sleep was so restful that I'm completely hooked. I eventually made a DIY for myself and now I'm making them for all my family and friends.

Be careful though, I'm buying all sorts of stuff just to make my gear now!

It will be ok. Its a healthy(ish) addiction. Well I mean u still have to walk places to use this stuff. Like from the car to the trees. Or to the back yard. Enjoy
As a wise man once said "If woman don't find you handsome at least they'll find you handy." Hang in there.
