Our first hike and hang (pic heavy)

Well finally got out and did it. I diyed a couple table cloth hammocks and a couple $20 sleeping bag uqs and a couple $3 tarps which were really like $10 tarps $2 for painters plastic and 16 for a couple rolls of good duct tape. And a couple walmart 0° sleeping bags (yeah right froze at 35° lol)
A couple $200 packs (for comfort) and planned a 3 day trip into the darkness of ...............THE BLACK FOREST TRAIL .(PA)
We went with my wife's grandfather, her uncle, and her father. The three of them shared a tent and carried brutal looking packs and weights without complaint.
    It was GREAT !!
Can't wait to go again. My wife liked it enough to try again too. Score!
    Ok here's some pics

Looks like it was a great first outing, even if you did get a bit chilly.

    Thanks for taking us along.

Oh as a footnote. Her grandfather is 82. He did this and many other trails for many years as a boy and many after as a boy scout leader. He told me he has enjoyed 65 years of camping. He's going to keep camping but he's pretty sure this was his last hike. And sadly tho he said he thought my hammocks were "neat" I couldn't get him to try one. Also he made a great hamburger helper with venison our first night out.

Great trip report--neat to get the generations together and get out there in the woods. I applaud your DIY set-up. Go with what you have and make it work! Glad too that your wife enjoyed it enough to go back. Thanks for the report.
