Assuming you mean channeled v. whipped, I prefer whipped. Whipped allows me to pull the ends tighter, which creates more defined "edges" on the hammock and keeps my top quilt from falling out.

I've tried three methods so far with my two blanks.

I simply gathered and knotted my first one. It was quick, easy, and hangs and sleeps fine.

I whipped the next one, and followed the instructions to tighten the edges by pulling those ends further. That worked nice also, and the sides didn't flop as much as my knotted end.

I remade the whipped one into a channel-gathered end. The edges were floppier than the whipped version, but I was happy with it as well.

I do believe I'll unknot the knotted end and convert it to a whipped end just so I can customize the edge tension a little, an reclaim some of the length lost in the knots.

Mine was done with athe channels in the end, ENO style. For the price and size, you can always change it in an hour or so. For a DIY experimenter, it is an ideal prototype canvas. Try to stick close to the L/W ratio of about 2.

Gathered End tied into a modified sheet bend with an amsteel continuous loop. It looks like it's whipped, but I just whipped the loose fabric to make it look cleaner after tying the knot. I really like it. Here's a video using climbing rope and a bed sheet, but you get the idea...

I have one that I cut to 11' x 70" and I love it, as far as weight goes it is alittle more then my ENO but I'll take it for the comfort. And as for the packability I put mine in a stuff sack about the size of 2 tomato soup cans stacked one on top of each other and thats with a SRL and two 6' whoopies
