trying to learn about ultralight suspension

What kind of suspension are ultralight hangers using. I've seen Grizz's video about his ultralight bridge hammock set up. his lightweight tree huggers are 3 foot straps with cord whoopies to extend the length of the straps which connect to a dyna glide UCR. He also mentions that dutch has a setup similar to this.

What are other ultralighters using for suspensions. Any links that can point me to dutch's meathod would be appreciated.

Dynaglide UCRs with dutch hooks, the new Ti dutch clips, and straps made from cargo ratchet straps. My current suspension is about 37.4 grams per side.

I'm using the suspension you refer to in Grizzly's video, except mine is on a gathered end. It weighs 2.4 oz total (1.2 per end).

I find that it is a bit of a pain sometimes due to the straps wanting to slide down the tree a couple of times before I can get the hammock weighted and tension on the suspension.

My other suspension which consists of 5' straps from Harbor Freight (900# break) plus 5.5' Dynaglide whoopies weighs in at a total of 3.1 oz. and is much easier to set up.

I am using 3 ft straps from Dutchware, and 3ft Dynaglide whoopies with Dutch Whoopie hooks spliced onto the adjustable end (non adjustable end larksheaded to strap, making a inverted whoopie suspension), total weight is 2.46oz.

Here is the link to the Dutchware Store- http://www.outdoortrailgear.com/cott...-all-products/

My current set up is 28 inch tree straps, 5 foot dynaglide whoopies with whoopie hooks. Weight is under 3 ounces total for both ends and I have used shorter tree straps and whoopies for a weight around 2 ounces total.
I usually hang from smaller trees and rarely need to use the whoopie to make up the distance.
I think I am going to experiment with short tree straps, 2 feet or so, a short section of tree strap extender on the straps and then short whoopie slings with whoopie hooks. Have not put it together yet to get a weight, but should be close to 2 ounces (the extenders and whoopie slings will be home made Dynaglide ones).

My setup is much like many of the ones already listed... here's a detailed explanation:

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...new+suspension

On my next hammock I will use shorter huggers and continuous loops. I use amsteel as I weigh 180 and use the hammock suspension to also bear the weight of all of my gear (underhammock).

Suspension was at 4 oz. Hopefully I can get it to 3 oz.

So Ive been kicking around.....dialing in my suspension too....

Using the Hammock Hang calcualtor My optimal is 12-15'....maybe 16. This is based on My 11' hammock. minimum distance on my whoopies and my reach up the tree. So based on the calculator Im going to cut my whoopies down to 4' total length I believe. Use the inverted whoopie hook method as CB talks about and ditch the use of Clips or biners all togeyher and just lace the suspension through the loops on the straps. Straps will be 4' long I think in the end. Maybe a little more finicky but Ill see how it works. To the woods!

I'm using 3ft AHE straps, 6ft woopies and Dutch Woopie hooks spliced onto the adjustable end of my woopie. I don't know the exact weight but its something like 3oz or a bit more. I could go lighter with shorter woopies but I like the extra length in case my trees are real thick around or I have to hang far apart for some reason.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
