    DIY Ghost Hammock

Finally made a hammock. I used Magna ACU 30D 1.1. I'm about 207 lbs. I plan to lose some weight and enjoy a lightweight hammock. Made a ghost hammock and it comes in at 5.5 oz with whoopies.

From my pictures, does it look like the hammock is too narrow for me? I feel like my right shoulder is on the edge.

I need to put a SRL. The hammock is 48x107. Should I make it adjustable or is the magic number 83% correct.

One last question. Is it worth me making UCRs to make it lighter.

    Looks mighty fine.

    UCRs, why not.
I'm kinda toying in my mind a UCR and the new system using just one descender (or whatever) ring.
Width. Does look a wee bit cramped, but in the pic looking down at you it looks like your right arm has an arm rest. Might just be an optical.
I'm 6'1" 183ish and when on Rocks cuben Ghost my arm/shoulder was right up on the edge too. Makes me wonder....you know some of us have added footboxes.....why not a shoulder box!

The Ghost hammock, though reported to be comfortable, isn't like sleeping on a Sleep Number bed... Sgt Rock designed it for comfort, but also for weight savings. A wider hammock would be a bit more comfortable (IMHO)... Getting as diagonal as possible, and raising your foot end a bit might help.

That said: Great looking hammock! I think I'll make one for myself!

Adding a SRL (zing it works great) is a good idea, as you could adjust the sag to your liking... I like VERY saggy hammocks... From the pics it LOOKS like you're strung a little tight...

    Keep up the DIY!

I'll try loosing up and see if I feel more comfortable. My foot wasn't all the way in the footbox. I was more worried about falling on my butt than if I was all the way in.

It will be a lot more stable when it's looser...

Different size people need different size hammocks to be comfprtable in. My wife and I both use BlackBirds, Its just right for for me and overkill for her (6ft2 vrs 5ft3).

I like the cammo for the hammock. Nice job. I am working on one (minus the footbox). Had not even considered a footbox when I started. Will have to try doing a footbox on the next one.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Just a few hours. The sewing part was easy. The hard part for me was the cutting. It has a grid but I couldn't make it out very easily. Scissors was slow so I used a rotary cutter.

Excellent. Very impressive looking hammock, and I bet you'll sleep even better in it knowing you made it yourself.

I made an adjustable SRL and tried it at 80% and 83%. Improved the diagonal lay and no more shoulder squeeze, but my shoulder was still on the edge. What do you guys think if I make it 4.5' wide instead of 4'. I shouldn't be riding the edge...right? I am going to make another hammock, gave the new diy hammock to my nephew for his birthday.

Any opinions to whether I should make another ghost at 4.5' wide or something else. I do like the weight of the ghost.
