What width is best??

MY Ozark Trail ccf pad is 24" wide. I noticed that many pads being used are 20" wide. I'm not sure if there is an advantage to the 24" other than it fills my hammock. I would appreciate some of your thoughts on should I trim it down or leave it be.

Besides rounding the corners, I would leave it be. 24" is not wide.

I guess you could trim the foot area if you were looking to shave ounces.

I think most would trim to for weight if the size was really freaky big. I can't really even use a 20" it barely reaches my armpits. I need a 25" min .

Oh just to point point out ... I don't think they make freakishly huge pads lol so I would leave it.

GG makes a 39" wide pad for hammocks.

the Exped Multimat is another "freakishly huge" pad hehe, also 39 inches wide

I've used a 26" wide Klymit Inertia XL in a hammock, it was better than a 20" wide self-inflating I had once, but not nearly as nice as something that wraps around more fully.

Cory Tholl from Klymit is a hammock Guy and he uses the bigger Static V Pad.

These klymit things are attractive these days. They can function as as back pads in some packs. ( I use an X Lite as back pad in a Gossamer Gear pack) In fact there are some purpose built ruck sack Klymit back pads which might work really well under your feet if you have a shorter UQ?

Has anyone tried sleeping in a Klymit Kinetic Vest in a Hammock?

The issue is the sides of the hammock. With a wider pad it wraps up so you can touch it withouth thnking you put your shoulder, hand or knee in the refrigerator. ;-)

I say leave it be, based on my limited experience.

I'm 6'1", and I use the large Thermarest Ridge Rest SoLite (25" x 77").

It catches both shoulders as well as my head and feet. No complaints there.
