    Box of fun

So a couple of boxes of goodies arrived Saturday. DIY hammock parts for the family. I am itching to get started but with kid's dance recitals and drama practice tomorrow it will have to wait.

Hope the thread injector is up to the task!

Where'd you get all the materials. It looks like a couple of taffeta hammocks with some bright colored straps.

Ohhhhh - nice goodie box. Looks like theres some fun coming up soon!
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

I think I will build my son a hammock. And would like to make myself a down pillow. Looks like fun and rewarding knowing you made it.

Sourced the materials from different places. The taffeta came from tableclothsfactory.com, the Lash It! and Dyneema from Redden Marine and the webbing from strapworks.com. Everything for four basic hammocks under easily $99 shipped. That's pretty amazing. I tried to steer the kids towards more earthy tones but they were not going to hear another word of it.

Looks as if you have a lot of fun to do, at least try not to let it become work, that defeats the purpose. Do try to put up pictures as it happens, we all like to look over your shoulder.

Some things I learned along the way:

) The knowledge on hammockforums is indispensable!
) Clean your thread injector prior to sewing.
) It's easier to sew straight end channels if you iron them after pinning, before sewing.
) Use double sided tape to hold the tree webbing in place while sewing.
) The heavy duty plastic coated twist ties work great for fishing Dyneema and Lash It!.
) 2.2mm Lash It would have probably been easier to work with than 1.75mm.
    ) Bug nets are next!

    The results are in!

My oldest helping measure end channels for pinning.

The last end channel of the last hammock!

    "Helper".

    The final products.
