    Here's my confusion

I understand under quilts from watching the crazy man videos. But wouldn't a modded sleeping bag do the same thing? A sleeping bag with a hole at the end so you can fish you hammock through it. Wouldn't that do the same thing or am I wrong? I ask this cause I'm trying to find a affordable solution. I don't have the money to get a u/q and a t/q. I won't have the pack space either.

what youre thinking of is similar to a Speer Pea Pod

the issue with just a sleeping bag around the hammock is theres a lot of air gaps for things to cool off. with a UQ, the less space (and in ideal conditions, no space) the warmer you usually are. kinda the same thing with a TQ, since you wouldnt have much laying atop you to keep you warm, just surrounding you.

with UQ's, you have a way to cinch the ends tight to the hammock while having the body of the quilt close/touching, with the sleeping bag, there isnt any way to "bunch" the ends and youll either have a huge gap under your butt, or a weird wad at the end of the hammock (i think).

keep in mind in referring to "typical" rectangle bags, as i dont think a mummy would be roomy enough to pull off what you want

I planned on making a hole, sealing it off so it doesn't make it bigger, then adding draw strings so I can close the hole up. And for the head end, I planned on adding draw strings to some clips so it goes to a certain point and doesn't destroy me while I'm laying in it. But I understand what you mean, when I'm in a hammock, I sleep strait anyways.

You can make your pod as your saying with a sleeping bag! Shug does it ! But you will need a second TQ or sleeping bag to cover the top of you since the top of the bag will most likeley not be touching you it should be wrapped over your ridgeline so that it draws up close under you for a UQ stle fit ! If you do this then you won't have the sag under you as the Rev was saying! I hope this helps! Take some Reflectives to use for cold spots .

this will work. Search for sleeping bag mod, or get one that already has holes in it, or fashion a sling for the bag.

You might need a blanket inside the hammock as well.

Thanks guys. I just winged it and found a old sleeping bag that formed a hole in the feet end. I fished it though and then placed my newer sleeping bag inside. It's a sauna in there. It's under my lift bed hanging now. I might take it out one of these nights to try it in the field. One thing I was thinking of doing was adding a wool blanket in the hammock to work as a pad of sorts. Either way thanks and if you have anything else to ad, please post all and anything you have. Thank you.
