my DIY M50 Hammock - the "M 5-oh"

I could not wait to jump in it...so I actually slept in it the first night...hahah. After a full nights sleep, and I wiggled around in it a ton trying to get it to break and nothing. Just more amazing comfort.

I whipped the ends Knotty style. I used tech line from DIY gear supply to tie them together. I also used that to make the ridge line. The stuff weighs nothing and seems to be very strong. I used my amsteel whoopies for the suspension. It just does not get much easier than that. I did double stitch the ends...really I am not sure it would matter. But I did. You can kinda see the stitching in the pic. The thread is red. You can kinda get the idea of how small that knot is comparing it to my thumb.

The 5-oh weighs hardly anything and I am pretty sure i could just put it in my front pocket if I wanted to. The garbage bag analogy holds true, except you can sleep in it

So I threw it on the scale, this is with ridge line and whoopies.

I think my tree straps and toggles weigh another 3oz so total setup would be just over 8oz. That is freaking light!!!!

OMG UL Nirvana! That is cool stuff! I am ordering some for an uq hammock protector. Prob be better to do a dual layer but more fabric underneath.
Do you have a pattern you worked from?

I don't have a pattern, I just followed the knotty style of making a channel on the end and gathering it. works awesome!!!!
