Glad to see this hobbyist old-time shop, Kitebuilder, is open again. It was closed for months last year.
Before buying nylon fabric of interest to kite-builders, be sure from the seller that it is not stiff, crinkly, noisy and brittle when folded coming off the bolt. Unless that is a finish and property that tumble washes out without damage to the fabric and loss of other properties you may want.
Well I'd say if it has the top of line DWR then it's already better than 1.1. Plus given m50 is so strong as it is with ripstop it should be pretty amazing.
Nice work, and beautiful stiching. I wish I was light enough to rock a M50 hammock.

Hey Raiffnuke, I just saw one of your M50 hammocks pop up for sale here on the forums. I've googled the material and seems to be mixed comments on the longevity of a hammock built from M50. I searched the forums and found this thread from 2012, that seems like a good amount of time for testing so I thought I'd go straight to the source and ask. How are these hammocks holding up over time? I weigh 175ish but also have to factor in cloths and quilts and any little extras I'm sure. Thanks for any and all feed back, Greg
I can't speak much to the durability of a M50 hammock. I did not get much use out of mine before I sold it to an interested party. I have made a few of them, but never got much use out of any of them. My guess is that at your weight, the hammock will last for a while. I would expect some stretch marks after some use. I don't know how long after the stretch marks appear the hammock can survive.
I wish that I had more info on how long they last and how much they can hold as far as weight. I never kept one around long enough to get a good feel on those details. I will express that my M50 hammocks were experimental and those that used them knew that up front.
