I have an underquilt protector, and I got snowed on/rained on/misted on one night last week so my underquilt was damp, despite the protector. I have found that if I am not careful with the UQP I may put it on too tight and have a cold spot from the compressed down. I did like the UQP to hold a hot hands XL body warmer in between the quilt and UQP, activated it, and by the time bed time came around my damp quilt was dry. The heat radiated up through the down and dried it out nicely.
