This meant I was up between 8pm and maybe 5am most nights working. I still had regular classes during the day and I lived about 25 minutes from school. I discovered that I could save 6 dollars worth of gas each day if I just spent nights or afternoons sleeping at school. However, I would not settle for sleeping on chairs in the hall, or tables in the studio. There was a park near campus that I could sleep at during the early hours each day maybe 4-10am where I could set up just 30-40 feet from the road or trail and not be seen. The students sleeping hunder tables or on various other pieces of furniture were really missing out. I have even set up in rooms or hallways in the middle of the night for quick naps.
    I love the photo!

The key word here is URBAN . . . Lots-o-cars!

Seriously though, parking in town usually isn't an issue, but I'm always careful not to raise concern by trespassing, either where the truck is left or where I set up camp. If I can be sure not to leave a trace, then I don't feel bad "borrowing" a few trees and a view for a couple hours.

Funny how many people who replied feel it is unsafe to hang in the city but feel at home in the woods, yet my city dwelling friends feel the city is safe and think if they venture out into the woods there's a bear behind every tree.

Just bought my son a new HH and winter gear. I’m taking him out into the woods this weekend for his first hang (1 DEG C). He told me he has to stop by the outdoor shop to pick up a good knife to protect himself before we go. I tried to tell him in 40 years of camping I’ve never seen a bear in the woods, and if we did this late in the year, that knife is only going to piss him off. So now he wants to bring his 120LB dog (Shepard/Newfoundland mix).

My secret test site is, technically speaking, on public park land. BUT, it is the back of the park and adjacent to my own lot, so... a bit different. However, it is well hidden during summer months!
