I was wondering what kind of skeeters you have in your area if chicken wire is the method of protection.

Or are you plagued by bats or flying frogs or something?

OrangePeel, what you have done is just what any one of us has done or will do, in order to hang a hammock conveniently. You simply did what had to be done. I am also in the group that is oddly attracted by that chicken wire.

Being in some apartment complexes while under construction your hang would scare me. Maybe Tn does a better job of inspections than they do down here. At least that end is in the corner which should be doubled or tripled and then the chicken wire may keep you from going to the ground. Most importantly, enjoy the hang!
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

Haha! Thanks for all of the replies, guys. Glad to know I'm in good company.

The chicken wire is to keep our cats from escaping when we let them outside. Its not as nice to look at as screening, but it was free.
