Good for you, and good for them for being so supportive of the growing hammocking community and standing behind their products!

Now, just be more careful next time

I had a GTUL and it had a few holes from use and they never ripped, it has to be caused by the hang angle

I noticed on Amazon at least 3 reviewers of the grand trunk UL hammock said after a few uses it split down the middle and sent them to the ground w/o warning..not a great intro to hammocking!!

Here hang calculator confirms just that doubled stress.
Tinny from MiniBull Design did a couple of videos using a large dial weight scale and his 10' hammock at different angles. Darn-it I can't find the video now they were over a year ago.
Anyway his real world test showed this calculation to be very inaccurate. In fact not even close. YMMV

So, help an accountant understand engineering concept. The more angle the hammock has when tied to tree, the less stress an occupant puts on the hammock? I have practically use my hammock at a zero angle before.. Meaning the suspension was tight from tree to the hammock... I never thought about the angle length and stress load when rigging up my hammock. I only thought of the sag to make laying in the hammock more comfortable, flatter, etc.

Yes a steeper angle will increase the load on the straps.

Did you notice that when you stretched the hammock to 0 degrees when you got into the hammock the angle would increase do to the load in the hammock?

I to never worry about strap angle unless my test lay is uncomfortable then I will get out and re adjust.

Sorry to be posting to a old thread but wanted to chime in...

The GT Nano 7 is very light but should not have any trouble if set-up correctly, no sharp objects, and not overloaded.
