HDPE bottles, the best! Only $5 and a higher max temp rating (but 212° is plenty with the others IMO). But I do like some wiggle room.
I also like to leave a 1" gap so when I loosen it right after filling and capping (good practice to release that initial pressure), it doensn't spray all over. You'll learn and only make that mistake ONCE!
I've yet to try this. Definitely going to have to give this a shot.
Another perk of doing this in sub-freezing temperatures is that when you wake up, you actually have water that is not frozen solid to make coffee with

I did it a few weeks ago on a night that got down to 0*F. I got the water just shy of boiling and put it in the opaque Nalgene bottle, then inside a double layer DIY reflective cozie. It still put off plenty of warmth from 7pm until 6:30am, and was well above 100 when I started water for coffee. This was the first time I had even tried the trick, definitely a great idea.
Anyone see any harm in using the single wall ss Nalgene bottle to heat the water in and using it instead of needing to transfer the water from a pot to the bottle?
nope, just put a sock on it afterwards so you don't burn yourself
Idea seems quite nice but Its not going to work in my case the area where I'm going to camp soon is quite hot so I think i should bring a bottle with cold water :P
