Just a little pointer for future endeavors: the Superfly should be pitched significantly tighter than that. Brandon really cranks his tarps down, and if he does, so will I, lol. Guitar string tight is what you want. Here's mine pitched on the TurtleDog stand.

Well I made it thru my first night in a hammock. I got a decent night sleep. Not a good one or a great one, but a decent night sleep.

Overall, I had trouble finding that sweet spot. My insulation worked pretty well despite the 35 degree weather, drizzle and major wind.

My 40 degree Incubator worked great! It seems I lucked out and had that dialed in on my first try. I didn't have any cold spots during the night.

I did get a little cold on top, despite the 40 degree burrow. I was just in a pair of sweat pants and a long sleeve T-shirt. I ended up hanging an opened sleeping bag from my ridge line and had it draped on either side of me. I left it open on either end to provide a little airflow.

I think the biggest hurdle was all the noise from the wind. As Kyle pointed out, I didn't have my tarp pulled out tight enough. I spent ZERO time with my tarp prior to last night. I spent about half a dozen times in my hammock for an hour or two, but never set up the tarp until last night. I didn't even have the guy lines attached until I went about setting it up.

A big problem was the "thumping" that seemed to happen throughout the night. I'm not 100% where it came from, but I think it might have been my tarp doors hitting my suspensions system. It wasn't loud, unless I had my ear on the hammock, then I felt it as much ad I heard it.

As I said, it was windy and I think I felt many gusts getting close to that 26 mph in the above photo. My wife was surprised I didn't come home in the middle if the night. There were some lumps down in our neighborhood and am glad I wasn't under them!

I think I need to spend some time getting tarp dialed in. I have a way to go in that department.

Overall, it was a success, but I have a long way to go. Guess I'll have to do some more testing!!

You can see the large amount of extra paracord still attached.

    Fun night!

Glad you made it through the night. With practice it gets better and more comfortable each time you hang. Keep at it!
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

Whoooo Buddy and way to get out and test. You'll get accustomed to noises in time.
Might want to add a few clothes through the night if you use insulation and the temps are right on the line of temp ratings. But you will know in time.

Nice looking setup and temps right where I like them.. The more time you send in it outside the more you will get accustomed to it.
