    TQ idea/question

I'm an active sleeper. I can't keep a pad underneath my calves and feet. How possible would it be to sew a pocket/sleeve onto the foot box of my TQ to hold a partial pad? Do you think it would be effective at keeping my legs warm? Would it stay in place? Just thinking.

Thanks for the input and brainstorming.

I would think that this could work. You might want to think about either adding a couple snaps to help keep the pocket closed so the pad doesn't slip out, or having a sewn flap over the top of the sleeve to keep the pad in place as well.

I like it. It't like a partial length Big Agnes system.

I'm an active sleeper too. If you have a double layer hammock you can slip it between the layers. Also for me it seems to work fine if you put the pad inside the foot box of your top quilt. A bigger pad might work too.

Might be less fuss to sew loop velcro into the foot box, and attach hook velcro to the pad.

Definitely easier to go the velcro route.

Another approach is to separate your torso and leg pads. I use a separate leg pad that is about 30" wide and 36" long and find that it stays in place well under my legs. If it moves, it is easy enough to slip back in place. I have a double layered hammock, and my preference is to place the torso pad(s) between hammock layers, but to place the leg pad on top the hammock layers in cold weather. I get more control and easy adjustment that way.

What about Velcro on the edges of your pad and tq?

I have a similar problem and was thinking of using soft Velcro to potentially hold it together. Hesitant though as I don't know if it would hold, plus a few other unknown unknows.

The Velcro I have is very fine and soft, and approximately 1" circles and the other approximately 2" x 1/2".

Or throw it in your foot box, however I find it gets a little cramped in there for me.

The velcro sounds like a bad idea for an active sleeper. I like the pad pocket idea (gram weenies wouldn't), but the pad pocket would need to be inside the TQ, to avoid condensation in the down, no?
