TQ taper?

Trying to figure out the difference between a straight taper or the half taper. I would guess the straight would be a bit larger all the way through and the half would be more of a straight cut to the center and then taper out on the top half, is that correct?

A half-taper allows the 50" standard width at the top to stay 50" until midpoint, then it drops to the normal taper for the footbox. It's a preference we noticed folks liked to request periodically...

It sounds like the half taper would be better. I posted with the question right before I ordered, however, I'm sure you guys were swamped with the new site & orders. Is there any way, I can get mine half tapered?
