    Hammocking, kind of...

Since the weather is so nice down here in south Texas... Lows in the 40's and highs in the 70's me and the Mrs Brute invited some friends over for roasting some s'mores over a fire pit I dug today... I set up my turtles dog stand and obtained permission to sleep outside tonight... So we had a few friends over roasted s'mores and the kids ran and played and the adults did what adults do around a fire with no kids... So now everybody's gone and I am in my turtle dog stand with shamu under me, an ENO pro fly hanging over me to keep the dew off hanging in a high porch mode... Staring at a beautiful fire... Bottle of sipping whiskey getting light next to me... Going to be a great night... Good night to all, and to all a high night...

Was a great nights sleep till 4am when the neighbors rooster decided that the sun should be up and screamed at it to do so... So after 30 mins of cockadoodledoo and many thoughts of fried chicken for breakfast I packed it in at about 5 am... I was toasty warm at almost 45 degrees which is a new low for me...

The point of this was to test my gear to see how low my gear can take me...

Cool. Sounds like a great night. I use ear plugs when I'm in the yard (not so much on the trail) We apparently have several dogs around and there's a donkey somewhere within a few miles!

Yeah I lived near a donkey when I lived out in the country... Got quite a few laughs listening to him "warm up" in the morning... They are noisy useless animals...

Sounds like you had a great night. I have a donkey on one side of me and a rooster on the other.

Donkeys actually make great gaurd dogs for livestock. They will trample just about anything that tries to hurt his cow or sheep buddies. Just FYI

    He's right.

    Everybody else wears earplugs, though.

We all wake up to different alarm clocks. On the last hang it was a pair of Cardinals. Who would have known 2 little birds could be so loud? But then this is what I woke up to.
