I was wondering if this would be a good idea to try or not. I have a BBO for my WBBB and a Leighlo FLUQ (20 Deg F ) and a -20 deg C sleeping bag. i was thinking to add a space blanket between the hammock and the underquilt for suplimental warmth.
Just wondering if this would be worth trying or will it lead to condensation issues?
I 'spect that whether it works for you will depend on how much you perspire, how much your hammock fabric wicks moisture away, and how much air-draft there is between the 3 layers.
Note that if a non-permeable foam pad works between two hammock layers for people, this may work for you. Whether it improves the UQ's performance varies in the same way that vapor-barrier insulation does.

Now something you can do....grab your cordless drill and put in a 1/4 inch bit.
do an official cool looking grad/matrix or go freehand but put a lot of holes in the insert. Since the holes will be trapped between layers they will act as little dead air spaces themselves BUT they will also allow moisture to pass more freely. You'll still get 95% (rough guess depending on the number of holes you drill) of the inserts effectiveness. You don't have to stop at 1/4 inch holes, but I wouldn't go over nickel size ones either.
Maybe I'm not doing things correctly, but, I used a Wilderness Logics SSUQ 40* with a space blanket down to 23* last night, had a few cool spots but I think that was from airspace between the UQ and the hammock. Record lows in Charlotte, great for testing. I used a 15* down bag and supplemented with a light weight fleece and lightweight sweater.
I'm thinking with a UQ cover I could go lower, just not sure how much.
