Supplementing Insulation?

So I have my "ideal" setup...

HG 20* Phoenix and HG 40* Burrow I'm good to about 35*

I have the opportunity for a trip that will put me into the mid to low 20's. I am sure I need supplementation.

Is it easier to supplement with warmer clothes or other ways?

I've used fleece clothing to help me, but my biggest issue was my feet. I've read that loose socks will help with that. I'm sure some others will have some great suggestions.

I had a friend use a radiant emergency heat sheet in his UQ and he said it really helped both reflect and raise the heat some.

You can suppliment you UQ with a bit of reflectix. It works great and conforms to your body better than a normal pad. You can't really feel it there at all.

For mid to low 20's I'd add a down coat with hood and insulated over pants.
You can sleep in them and wear them around camp. That's what I do any way.
Standing around in the woods at 20F can be quite chilly.

I've had good results with insulfleece inside my UQ.

Made it down to the mid 20's. Was also wearing polypro long underware.

REI also has down booties on sale ! I love mine! We went on a trip last year that took us down to nine degrees , and I used my WB Yeti and Reflectives with my down booties and it was fine ! I always bring some hot hands if I get chilly they will keep you warm till morning!

Also a hammock sock will give you 10* more warmth.

Not a big fan of the booties, I have hot feet. I am very curious about the sock after reading a few reviews seems lie an easy way to get back into the 40's from the 20's..

If you think your top insulation will work, you may want to throw a space blanket between the hammock and UQ, an under cover will help as well. Additional layers like others suggested and an over cover or a tarp hung close for the top.I've taken a Wilderness Logics SSUQ 40* UQ to 27* with a space blanket and a 15* REI bag.
