Question First Under Quilt - Thoughts and recommendations (wbbb)?

I just ordered a Blackbird 1.1 double and a superfly with the intent of using pads. However, my dad just offered to get me an UQ for an early xmas present.

I'm not an obsessive gram counter, but would like to stay as light as possible. A 3/4 UQ is really attractive to take up less space and weight in my pack. But... I frequently have cold feet.

Needing two quilts instead of one sleeping bag is giving me a tiny mental headache. I'd love it if both would be under 2.5-3 lbs total.

I'm in Western Oregon, and for the most part, I won't be out in weather than's under 20F. I'd like to aim at one UQ that will be versatile. It seems that with the ability to have a pad in addition to the UQ in extreme temps, and just the pad in light weather, that a 20F full length UQ would be good.

I like the looks of the Yeti, especially since it's already a Warbonnet product and will fit the BB well. But HammockGear's stuff also looks great.

Thoughts on this logic? Recommendations? I'd love to catch the sales likely ending tomorrow.

    Oh, and I'm 6'2"/210.

Let me know if you need more info! Thanks for your time and sharing your wisdom.

HG 20F incubator and never look back!

you can vent in summer,,, or may be happy to have it if you're at timberline.

a 20F tq / uq should put you right at 3 lbs.

as time went on,, i got a 30F phoenix for longer hikes in summer to supplement my full length 20F

For 3 lbs, +1 on a 20* Incubator and any number of top quilts, depending on your budget. Getting a burrow would make sense as both are from HG, but the mamba from Warbonnet and the GoLite quilts are all very good.

Quilts from any of the cottage indi folks would make you happy. One nice feature the HG burrow has is a neck closure right where you want it,,very nice.
    There's also Underground Quilts .

I just got a HG 20 Incubator, full length, on the recommendation of several Oregon hangers in the know. I'm kind of an ounce counter too, but I'd rather be warm and pack a little more weight, than cold and wish I had more coverage.

I hope you can make it to our winter hang coming up in January. Should be fun!

I just bought a WBBB 1.1 double, too. And I just ordered the Zeppelin 20 from UnderGround Quilts. I had numerous recommendations to try them and after seeing Paul’s video of it being used on the BB, I was satisfied I would get both a quality product and a warm one for my needs. Paul has been super cool about communication and information, too.

Well, that 3 season Yeti was made for your BB, only weighs 12.5 oz, and will pack down tiny. Just that for your back warmth and a pad or your pack for your leg insulation, and your good to go! And it's has been on sale! $175!

Or heck, the Winter Yeti is only 18 oz and $200 on sale, rated to zero!
