    Catskill Hang - Fox Hollow

Russ and I are planning an overnight to the Catskills on 1 Dec -2 Dec to Fox Hollow near Shandaken, NY on Fox Hollow road on Rt 28... near Rt 42 North. We have JayS wanting to come with us and we are putting the trip out there for others if there is an interest. We will arrive ETA 11 am and do the search for wood. There will be a lean to there and the map says water. Who's for an adventure?v

This would have been a great chance to test the winter sock, but I'm head south for the weekend. Have fun and catch y'all at the NEHHA and Jersey Winter Hang

What a great trip!!! A little frosty in the morning; it was a short hike into the hollow. We all set up our hammocks and proceeded to collect There was a small stream near by so water was plentiful. A microburst that probably happened during Sandy that brought down a slide that looked like an avalanche! However, trail crews must have been through there because the path was cut free. JayS and Russ found lots of wood and a lightning struck tree provided wood all night. We stayed up till 1030 talking!!! Great food and great company. Night temp was just above freezing so all the snow on the ground was gone by morning. We were toasty warm all night in our hammocks!
Short hike out and off to Woodstock NY for a walk around town to sight see and lunch in town.

    Peace, Love, and Woodstock!

What Peggy said! The hike was 4/10 of a mile up but the path had been cleared by a chainsaw crew within the last week or two. Otherwise I honestly don't know how long (or if) it would have taken.

Going hanging with the JBears is fun and they bring enough food that I would have been fine if I had left mine at home.

====>. Yep! The Bears are my favorite peeps to hang with, and Russ and I always wind-up on an adventure! He helped me cook-up my Dates stuffed with walnuts wrapped in bacon at the last Jersey Winter Hang, and Peggy helped me locate a place to pick-up some Scotch at the Spring NEHHA in Mass! GREAT PEOPLE!!!

    Luv 'em both!
