Nice job Dman, I like the sock also, not searching for suspension pieces is great
D-Man, this is a great creation. I love it, an it would be good for bridge hammocks too I'm guessing. You do need to look at selling those connector ends.
Beautiful daughters also.

My hiking poles are fixed length, so using them isn't an option. PLus I use them to guy out my side panel pullouts anyway.
It does work best with hammocks of ideal length, but I've done it more often with hammocks of dissimilar lengths. Just keep in mind that maximum spread between hammocks is achieved when the spreader bars are perpendicular to the long axis of the hammocks/line between the trees. When we hang with 11' and 9' hammocks, the spreader bar is at the end of the long hammock, and just up from the end of the short hammock, about where the bury of the whoopie is located. A few wraps around the spreader bar end with the whoopie tail secures it well enough. Another option would be securing one end with a short piece of shock cord.
So far all my tandem test hangs using a tarp with doors have proven it's about impossible to close the doors around two suspensions. Even if you shared a single tree hugger extended under the tarp, the suspensions shift laterally when one person gets in/out of a hammock putting stress on the doors. Hammock socks are an alternate solution. I've had ideas about a tandem sock, but that idea is still simmering in the back of my mind.
Just what I was looking for, thanks!
ugh now I have to make these. I have some spare carbon poles laying around that are 6mmOD and 4mmID. wonder if they would work.
Also maybe someone else would be able to produce these???
I don't know if a 4mm tenon would be a large enough diameter. You might try to bore a 6mm hole and put the tubing inside. The overall length shouldn't change. I haven't experimented with how small the tubing can be. Some flex is okay. Nearly all the force is compression force.
Fantastic! This would work great for hanging with my kids.
+1 on purchasing if you decide to turn and sell some.
Father. Husband. Scoutmaster.
That is great! Missed D2 in the film.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
Well I made my set tonight and they came in at a weight of............................
well I think I will let you all wait till I can get a chance to sit down and get the pics uploaded to tell you. Also that way I can show the materials and process I used. Though I will say I haven't had a chance to test them with the hammock but they feel quite strong!
