DIY hammock sock

Materials
- 3.5 yds 1.0 breathable ripstop from wally world 60” wide @ $1.50/yd
-3.5 yds 1.1 DWR coated ripstop from wally world 60” wide @ $1.50/yd
- 3 yds insultex from TTTG @ $6.50/yd
- 5.5’ of coil zipper #3 from BWDD @ $0.25/ft
- 1 #3 slider from BWDD @ $0.25
- 2 cord locks from BWDD @ 0.25
- 18” of 1/8 shock cord from BWDD @ 0.25
Total project cost = $30.75 + a little shipping, + some guttermen thread

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, it added a lot of warmth to this past trip during the heavy winds and semi chilly nights. If I had zipper track crimps at the end I would have made it so I could put it on/off but as it stands now I just unclip the whoopie from my elephant trunk, feed it through the opening and quickly reattach the whoopie to ET.

i do have to say thank you to all the people that participated in this thread http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=26502 without the open discussion it would have taken me longer, so i do appreciate the help and hopefully this has returned it for future sock DIY projects with others.

Thanks for the complements. Tzbrown asked for the pattern information so I thought I would share with all.

On the second night usage the winds were low and both the bug net, top of the sock and IX had a little condensation.

After viewing this one in person, I really liked the way it closed with the zipper.

It has a very smooth design lines front and back, and the draw cords inside assure a good fit with a varied amount of insulation under the hammock.

I will probably do more than one in this design.

One all cotton, for very cold weather use, and then a second with DWR bottom, and a fully breathable top.

Questions BG
In the PDF diagram, the long taper would be the foot end, correct? Did you have your head at the left end, of diagram, at RR? Did you sleep diag, with head on left of hammock, furthest away from zip, foot right?

If the assumptions are correct I will mirror the image and have my head near the zip, foot to the right side

Seam type, Flat felled, french, or simple? It will help figuring size before cutting

I also had a chance to see it over the past weekend and it is a first class peice of kit... Bloomgorge did his homework on the one and I'm very impressed with both the design and workmanship...

Seems everything Bloomgorge has DIY has been top shelf all the way...
