    Material for Tarp

I'm string my first Trap build to cover my bridge hammock. Im looking at a 1.9 oz Coated Ripstop that say is has a water resistance of 1.2 PSI... Im not sure what is the best fabric to build a trap with? Like always weight is a concern but a trap that doesn't stop rain is dead wait from the start.

I like a punji stick trap.

However if you mean tarp then I would say that for cost vs weight:

Cheapest and Heaviest to Lightest and most expensive:
    • Poly Tarp
    • PU Coated Nylon
    • SilNylon
    • Cuben Fiber

One frequently used fabric is the 30d Silnylon Ripstop 2nds from DIY Gear Supply.

While punji sticks have their place, I prefer a wire snare if I plan to eat it.

I found 40D ACU Urethane coated Nylon. It says 3.3 oz/yd... does any one know of an ACU Pattern in a silnylon?

OUR CRUISERS CAN'T REPEL FIREPOWER OF THIS MAGNITUDE!

But perhaps Sil can repel a big rain storm.

I haven't been able to find sil in any camo patterns, the best you can usually do is foliage grey/green or coyote brown. The tarp (my first) I made from that PU coated nylon is in a MARPAT. I got a deal on it, but it's pretty heavy. 10x12ish comes in at close to 1.75lbs. Its not that light, but it does feel pretty bomb proof and I used it through a tornado last march and it held well. Still, my current set up is lighter than my tent so for now I'm happy. Maybe after the holidays I might scrounge up some cash to invest in some proper sil.
