    Help on Installing ASR

    Hi,

I'm sure there's a vid somewhere that shows installation of an ASR, preferably on a GTUL, but any gathered end will probably do just fine. The only vid I can find on youtube from Stick looks like it's not installed, but sort of put installed and taken off each time (tough to tell).

Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Trying to turn this GTUL into a proper setup, got a tarp already, now installing an ASR is my next step.

    Regards,

Sappy, what are you using for suspension? RLs are really easy to install. If you are using whoopies that are larks headed into the channels on your GTUL, just undo the larks head, thread the whoopie through the eye on your RL, then redo the larks head. When you are done, the larks head will go through both the loop on your RL and the channel on your hammock. If my desciption doesn't help, send me a PM and I can try and get some pictures for you.

    GTUL Suspension

I'm just using whatever was there, which just seems to be a short larks head loop. I have dynaglide whoopies that I might put on it but I'm not sure if I'd trust my weight on them (I tip the scales at about 210). I'll try what you suggest, seems easy enough. Thanks for the help!

PS See you at the NEHHA hang in January

    Easy Peasy

I can't believe I had any questions about this, it was easier than tying a shoe

I am sticking with the short loop of thick rope that's on the ends for now, rather than convert it to the spare dynaglide whoopies I have, because I'm not sure that they will hold my weight (I'm about 220). Does anyone know if they would these would be safe?

Dynaglide whoopies should hold you just fine. It has a 1000lb. breaking strength.

I have 7/64 dynema & I've been in the hammock with both my wife a daughter. That was a little over 300 lbs. It was to weight test the anchors.

    Conversion Upcoming

Looks like I'll be doing that conversion. I'll get some pics once it's on.

    Another Easy Convert

Converted the suspension to Dynaglide Whoopies, a lot thinner than the 7/64 Amsteel ones on my Hennessy, but the test hang was successful. Should I do anything more than the larkshead onto the cinched end of the hammock? Is there any other special knot I should use?
