There's an outside chance I might be able to make this with the Grandkids. Would be getting there Friday afternoon.

    Questions:

What are the camping opportunities close to the start point?

Are reservations for campsites required, and does it cost anything?

Glad you are going to get to make it Incoming...You know pacho can come if he wants

Sarge, there are lots of great places to camp fairly close to the trail head. There is no cost and no reservations are needed.

Ok... There were a lot of ideas thrown around, we are getting close enough I think we outta figure out what's actually the plan...

Are we meeting in the middle, dropping cars off at one end and walking straight through... Neither of those... Since I am a tagalong I will sit out discussion, but just thought I would open up the floor...

We did that a while back, but here it is again for those that missed it.....(brute)

Meet at Rock Creek Camp at 10 on Saturday. Ride share to Juniper Point and hike in from there. Camp the 1st night at 5 mile Camp? Then hike out the rest of the way and shuttle back to the vehicles Sunday afternoon.

If I do make it, I will likely hike in and then return on the same route. I've got a long drive back to Astrodome City and will have to drop the Grandkids off on the way.

whatever works for you. It is a 14 mile trail. I think that the idea is that we meet at the western parking area, where we all meet up. We then drive all of us to the eastern parking area using some or up to half the vehicles. Park on the east, walk half in, camp. Sunday, get up, keep walking west. So when we reach the western lot, we just shuttle everyone back to the east and then everyone has their vehicle. I'm not sure how long the roads take to drive around. I bet 30 minutes or less.

Everyone brings their own meals and snacks. Two lunches (Sat and Sun), a Saturday dinner and a Sunday breakfast. I think Caveman said water can be taken from Lake Texoma: Steripened, filtered or Aqua-Mira.

I've dropped off the kids, but never dropped off the Grandkids....That must be a whole different experience

Whatever works for you guys. I'm easy.

There is also pottable water behind the restrooms at the Cedar Bayou area, so we should be good. (I'm going to carry in about 4 liters)

4 liters. I think I'll have my 2 liter Camelbak bladder full, plus two large gatorade bottles. so about the same.

It's roughly a 30 minute drive from the West trailhead to the East trailhead as was mentioned.
