Welcome. I'm looking for someone from the UK to get something that I can't find here. If you'd like to help me out send a pm. Happy hanging.
Hello, from Oregon/British Columbia, Canada.
Just so you know that unless you live in a tropical place, hanging is frequently cold even in summer. Is there some sort of badge, your fellows can earn for making their own gear. They could make an underquilt fairly easy. It would not be light weight but they could use an old packing blanket, such as movers use. I now some moving companies will give away old blankets that are not suitable for their intended use. Tag sales, thrift stores and such would have things you could make into a underquilt easily or as padding for your guys. Maybe have a contest of who can come up with the best reuse of something to keep warm with, make something found, something with either no value or very little value. I am sure survival books and websites would have more information. This could work into a valuable life experience for your troup. I find it amazing at how creative kids are, they think in a different way than their elders, once they are on the scent of a new idea they are capable of coming up with great ideas. Not everything has to be new or used for its intended purpose. Sometimes in life things happen, very unexpectedly, having the knowledge of how to survive on what we have with us and what we can put togeter can and has saved lives.
