There's a "Links" link on the menu at the top of the page. On that page, there's a journals category near the bottom. That's where they all end up.
“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” ~Judge Joseph Story

I've been following Certain's TJ, and she made mention today of a strategy for hanging in the Whites...

Here's her TJ entry. Paragraph starts with "Oh, by the way, to all hangers out there..."

Hanging in the Whites is easy, I just did it today. See my trip report for the pics. I'll go read her journal entry though too.

Edit: Ahh, just read it and can somewhat agree with her about tree density but I don't think it's that much of a challenge in all but a very few areas.

Glad to hear how easy it is. There were a lot of folks on Whiteblaze who were curious/worried about it at one time. I guess it has been well proven to be easy now, so no problems...

Well, it's not always super easy but not always impossible either. I think it's that hanging thru-hikers are just not used to the terrain. One needs to be more selective here and take less than ideal spots when they find them, such as the side of a hill, and be willing to go a little farther off trail as well.

Thanks NCP, I've not been keeping up with her journal. I found this one particular interesting because her wandering off the AT onto the blue blazed Ethan Pond trail is precisely where I was about a year ago.

In that stretch of the Whites, Franconia Notch to Pinkham Notch, it was likewise my experience that trees were typically really dense. We always did find a place to hang, but only once was it obvious where to do that.
