Those coupons are not valid for any items "on sale." Virtually everything in Joann's is marked with a high price and then a % off is offered.
The last thing I bought there was not shown to be on sale/discounted. When I presented my 50% off coupon, the cashier told me it was on sale for 20% off and would not take the coupon.
