    Mesh hammock mishap

    Did something silly this evening.

I have yet to convert (don't hold that against me)...I decided to dig out my old mesh hammock and see if I couldn't string it up in the cellar for a try.

So, I did. I got in the thing and promptly flipped over, knocked my bike on top of me, and hooked a button on my pants.

I seem to now recall why it's spent much of the last 15 years in a drawer instead of in my pack.

But nevertheless...I did manage to wedge a therm-a-rest into it and I settled down for about 20 minutes to see if it might work.

It might work. So I'm still probably taking the plunge in the spring.

I believe those net hammock were invented for comedy movies. Next time you need to have a video camera rolling!

You will find camping hammocks a whole lot more comfortable and virtually impossible to flip.

Those mesh hammocks do make great chairs though!

I once had a mesh hammock split from center to each end on me, dumping me on the ground as it split. I didn't bother to replace it.

My camping hammock on the other hand is something I will never go camping without again. I will never be a ground dweller again.

What I always hated about my mesh hammocks was that everything...pocket corners, buttons and belt loops snagged on them.

Grand Trunk makes a nice hammock for under $20. It could give you a better idea, and an awesome travel hammock.
