    Underquilt suspension

I had an idea for modifying my quilt suspension, let me know what you think. So I had the thought while lying here that while sprawled out we essentially want our quilt to be slightly parallelogramed. Here is my idea, we know where we want the head end of our quilt especially the corner by our heads. We also know that we want the corner by our feet to be pulled down as far as possible. Would it work to have lines on those two corners that did not stretch? You could set exactly where you wanted the corner by your head with some cordage and the corner by your feet pulled snug, the other two corners would still have the bungee cord on them that would stretch out to conform the the hammock shape. I think that there would have to be 2 additional cord locks so you could adjust each corner independently but I think it may work. As I lay here it sounds like a good idea in my head, if only I had the ambition to get up and try it out.

So lets hear it. What are your thoughts on the idea?

I would think make an asym under quilt and this idea would makes sense... But I would still want each side to stretch other wise you may get gaps or might tear it when getting in and out.

Both sides would stretch but only on one end, The idea is keeping those opposite corners in semi-fixed position. I may have to get up and give it a try.

I've made a pod system that works great this way.
Fixed link at the foot and bungee at the head.
Keeps the foot of my modified Pinole 20 bag fixed to the best position.
The head of the bag is allowed to move around just enough to fine tune.
With an under quilt though...may be different.
My next DIY will be an under quilt, and I'll try both ways.
I'll share what I learn in my experiment.

I think you want stretch in all 4 corners. But, I first started making all my underquilts in the shape if a parallelogram with about 6"-8" offset. This worked great for asymmetrical hammocks like a Warbonnet Blackbird. However, that shape isn't as versatile as a rectangle when you go to symmetrical hammocks like a Switchback.

Well last night I gave it a try. I tied a piece of mason line to the foot end of of the underquilt only on the corner that my feet point at. It worked well, but, it took way to much fiddling to get it set in the right position. I think I need to change up the suspension on the quilt. Right now it has the shock cord through the channels. I like the Jarbidge suspension better.
