I made my dad a black tablecloth hammock with knotty mod. He hung in it today, and said that he liked it better than any one yet. Success! He has a bug net, tarp, (could be better) kitchen, new z55 pack, downy HG 2)* with 2 oz overstuff and pretty much every thing he needs. I just got a shipping notification from HG, so we will be having a testing session some time very soon. I am excited. He is almost 60 and I really want to get him back out there. We used to ground camp all summer when I was a kid and I know that he misses being out. Thanks for all of the help. We are ready to go...Any more geear and he is buying it his D*#^ self.

I would just make sure that he is laying in the hammock and UQ when you guys test it out so there are no pockets of air or leaks. He will have a much more comfortable and impressive first hang if the UQ is taut.

Let us know how it goes.

Very cool to put in the time and money to hang with Dad. Time does fly and the little day to day things really have a way of obscuring what is truly important. Thanks for the reminder that sometimes we do need put forth the effort to grab the moments that too soon will no longer be available to us.

Now, I hope he has to cook and clean up the camp dinners after all you have done to outfit his butt - fair is fair.

    enjoy,
    jason

Thanks Y'all. We will dial in the gear in the yard, then go sleep for a night in the state park, then we will go off for a weekend or so. This will not be his first night in a hammock, but it will be the first time he has all his own gear. It will be good to have everything almost ready to walk out the door with little notice. I am excited!!!

If you guys feel like making a trip south for MLK weekend, the 3rd Annual Florida Hang will going on at Buck Lake in Ocala National Forest. Then you and your dad would have a matching patches to add to your gear.

Haha! Yeah! Fair is fair, but as I get older, I see how much that he bought my sorry butt. He deserves a little payback. But yeah, he can wash the dishes, cause he made me do that to earn my keep back in the day. Yeah!!!
