    Snipe/Light Owl vs. ENO Doublenest

I'm currently rocking an ENO Doublenest but am looking to upgrade to something lighter for backpacking. My research has led me to consider the WL Snipe or Light Owl. I am a definite side sleeper (and front sleeper) and am really looking to find a hammock that will give me a really good flat, diagonal lay. I have seen reviews of the Snipe, which show that it provides a really flat lay with its head boxes and foot boxes.

I have also reviewed comments that flatness of the lay is determined by length, whereas others swear it's determined by width. My ENO DN is fairly short (118" compared to 132" on the Snipe), but it's really wide (80" compared to 58" on the Snipe).

Since there's no way for me to try out the Snipe before I buy it, I'm hoping someone who has compared the two hammocks can offer some insight. How will either of these WL hammocks compare to my Doublenest in terms of offering a nice, flat lay? I am able to get a fairly flat lay in my ENO by using an adjustable ridgeline, but I'm wondering how it will compare to the longer, thinner hammocks.

Tried a friends WL Lite Owl, and it was so comfy. Compared to the Eno Double, you will be very, very, very, very happy with the Lite Owl. I hear the Snipe is also very nice, just haven't tried one. Good luck.

Love my lite owl. I think the snipe is about the same thing, just a single layer.

Depending on your weight, you may want to look into the BIAS micro? It's 11' and super light. I'm about 220# or so and mine does just fine. It's super thin though, so wind cuts right through it. That's good for hot summer months, but not so good for cold winter months. Most of the time I carry my lite owl. (sorry....more info than you asked for)

i have a friend that uses a DN. we tried each others hammocks and i was not able to find a sweet spot during the half hour that i was in his DN.
i had to get up and gather wood while because Cliff had fallen asleep in my LiteOwl.
i woke him up after he started snoring.
he has an Owl now and uses his DN as a gear hammock and under quilt protector.
    the Owls are supremely comfortable.

WL makes a awesome hammock,,,,and you have the ability to tighten the sides up with the Knotty mod on the sides which makes the hammock even better...no comparison in my book. Besides,,look at the resale value in a WL hammock vs what you have now..If you don't like it,,you can always sell it. But!! You will enjoy the lay in a hammock from Wilderness Logic.

ENO is one hammock I haven't tried. However, I can say that my Light Hiker (which I think is superb) may be getting replaced with my new Lite Owl. The fabric has a great feel to it and I really like the hammock.

Like Caveman said the Snipe and Lite Owl differ in that the former is a single layer and uses 1.5oz nylon while the latter is a double and uses 1.1oz.

I don't have a BIAS yet but there's definitely one in my future.

Thanks for all the excellent feedback amigos. I'm going to pull the trigger on a WL hammock. Now if I could only decide between the Snipe and the Light Owl....

Snipe is my favorite hammock. Lighter than the lite owl.
