All this treeless Grand Canyon talk raises the question about how well the BB sets up on the ground, anyone tried this that can report back?

No, but I can't think of any reason it would not work as well as any other hammock. It would give you a nice zippered bug net, with a top entrance. I don't know if it is wind or water resistant at all. If not, I suppose you could beef it up with some spray on DWR like Speer recommends to gain some additional "bivy" like qualities under your tarp.

    BLASPHEMY!

If one were so desperate it would probably work fairly well. The nylon wall is pretty high where it attaches to the netting, so you'd have a bath-tub of sorts.
    Trust nobody!

If I were to ever be forced??? to use my hammock on the ground I would at least use something for a ground cloth between the hammock & the ground
and better yet, a ccf pad to protect the hammock from abrasion.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I can't imagine taking my brand spankin' new BB and putting it on the ground. I think after a hammock touches the ground you have to burn it, don't you.

    LOL.

The bugs would have to be pretty bad for me to set up my BB on the ground. I'd rather sleep under the stars, and let the occasional mosquito feast on me.
