    Mummy-shaped pad any better?

I wanted to ask if anyone had compared a mummy-shaped pad inside the hammock to a rectangular one.

I am wondering if it would make it a little easier to get an asymmetrical lay and maybe stay inside the hammock easier without the corners.

I haven't had a chance to try it myself, so thought I would ask here first.

I tend to be pad user and find all pads move around too much without something to hold them in place. My final solution was to sew a short pad sleeve down at the foot end to hold it exactly where I want it. You can select the diagonal lay angle using that method also. Other solutions I have used:.....a Big Agnes bag with built-in pad sleeve, ENO Hotspot, velcro holding straps, and just putting a mummy shaped pad right inside my bag with me. All of those methods worked at acceptable levels. But, nothing beats my current add-on pad sleeve kluge.

Mummy is much better. Here are two I was able to get out of 60X80X 1/4. It creases less and and is easier to position in the Double Layer. Saves weight also.

I will try rigging some kind of Hotspot-type of arrangement in the backyard, when I get a chance. I have an inflatable pad, so will only partially inflate it. I was hoping to use the same pad for hanging and ground, if possible, for versatility and because I already spent the money on the pad.

If it slips, I may have to try the partial pad sleeve mod.

    Thanks for the replies!
