I have the same issue being that I'm in the same area, generally I keep my feet in the foot box and keep the rest of my TQ folded off my top half. Then when the temps fall I get in the full TQ. I use the Thermarest Haven TQ. It has a hood build in which I truly like and use.

if its too hot to have it on i dont even want it touching me, or blocking a breeze ,so i kick mine to the foot end too.if i need it i can pinch it with my toes, dragging it up without having to sit up.

I have an ENO with a ENO bug sock. I only use it when it is warm and I have a light weight 50degree sleeping bag that I use. I drop it in the bottom of the sock and it hangs right beneath me and when I need it I just reach down and grab it. Works pretty good.

Foot in the foot box, quilt on the side.

But when temps get to where I know its going to be between 60* and 40*, I use the UQ and I sleep in a Swiss Army Fleece Mummy Bag Liner. I tie the draw string to a prusik on the ridgeline to make it easier to get into, climb into it like a regular sleeping bag, and leave it open. If I need to get warmer during the night I just zip it up. Takes a little bit of wriggling to get it right, but so does a TQ.

Anything under 40*, I do that with a top quilt.
