So what's your stuff weigh?

Howdy gang! I'm just curious what your hammock setup (including sleep system) weighs? I'm not a gram wennie, but I'm curious what kind of weight everyone else has in their stuff.

I really have no idea what mine weighs right now, because it is in flux at the moment. I'll get a weight on everything sometime tomorrow.

So if you could, a brief list of what your equipment is and it's total weight would be awesome. I'm just trying to determine if my weight expectations are realistic or pie in the sky ( I would like to stay right around 10#.). I know cheap is usually heavier and right now cheap is my only option.

My base for getting me to 20* lows is just under 15#, although it has room to be lightened up and I enjoy some comforts (full UQ, etc).

Here is my sub 10 pound base weight and what I carried on a thru-hike of the Superior Hiking Trail. Temps hit low 20's pretty much every night.

I keep my gear weights in a spreadsheet and copy things to a Trip load tab when I'm packing. Most of my stuff is DIY from heavier than needed materials so it is entirely possible to go lighter than I do. I also carry a pack that is on the heavy end, but it is so comfortable that I can really load it down and I never feel the weight.

DIY Hammock Body (1.4 oz nylon, 11' long x 5' wide, Velcro mounting points, and SRL made of 7/64" Amsteel): 15.1 oz

DIY Ring & Strap Suspension (going to be trying Whoopie slings for first time soon, so weight of this is likely to change): 7.8 oz

DIY Oversized Blackbishop Bag (30d sil, large enough for hammock & 2 summer weight quilts or 1 winter weight quilt): 1.1 oz

DIY Detachable Bug Netting (used most trips): 7.5 oz

Poncho Liner Top Quilt (modded to dual-use as a serape): 23 oz

DIY Asym Tarp (including lines and 2 MSR Groundhog stakes; 30d sil): 12 oz

DIY Dual-Use Poncho/Undercover (30d sil, 5' x 7'): 8.25 oz

Space Blanket for Semi-Garlington Insulator: 4.1 oz

Total: 78.85 oz/4 lb, 14.85 oz

Note that this is good down to 50* F for me, and that three items are dual-purpose (the poncho/undercover, the poncho liner/serape, and the suspension straps--the latter secure the hammock BB bag to my pack).

I'm pretty happy with this set-up currently. We'll see how I like it as winter arrives and heavier insulation is needed. One of my current projects is a colder weather underquilt; I expect to add about 8 to 10 oz with that. Another is a lighter top quilt; I expect that to reduce top quilt weight at similar temperatures by about 10 oz.

I'm under 3 pounds for a 40*F setup including hammock, suspension, bugnet, top quilt, underquilt and pillow. Add another 1/2 pound for 20*F with heavier quilts.

Skin out weight without consumables is 13 pounds for 40*.
Add a couple more pounds for 20* trips.

Depends on the season and trip for total weight. Lighter doesn't necessarily mean expensive. The cheapest is also the lightest, ... what you don't bring.

As far as exactly what is in my pack... here is what I have packed currently for a 20-30*F adirondack trip with expected snow.

Claytor hammock w/web and cinch buckles: 34oz
JRB 10x11 tarp with guylines: 20oz
JRB Hudson River Quilt: 20oz
LeighLo 2/3 summer UQ: 9.6 oz
Car Sunshade pad: 10oz
Sitpad (my pack frame) : 2oz
Total: 95.6 oz (or just under 6 lbs)
