What's your setup for tarp tie-outs?

I'd like to see how all ya'll pitch your perfect tarp! We've all got "the system" down at this point I'm sure, but I always like trying out new ways in different situations. Try to keep to the format first off, that way it's easier to visualize what each hanger is using. After you post your rigging format, then feel free to ramble and summarize all the details that need review for the user. I'll start it:

* 1.2 tech line (12 foot sections)
* 6 inches of shockcord on each tie-out
* Overhand loop knot "thing"
* 6-inch aluminum stakes

The knot I use after stringing my tech line through the eyehole of each aluminum stake is something I came up with. It could very well be an actual knot, but I'm uncertain -- I know my knots btw. It's essentially an overhand knot, but I don't pull the whole line through. Instead, I pull the tie-out to my desired taughtness, start the overhand knot, and then let it bite on a loop I make (1.5-2 inches in diameter). To loosen, just pull the line and it self-releases. It's never failed and takes 2 seconds to make and roughly .07 seconds to release

I'm doing my first winter hang in a few weeks with BrewGuy and I'm curious as to how you folks tie knots (or avoid doing so) in COLD, snowy weather.

After making and using just about every tarp line discussed on HF and loving the experience I ended up going about as simple as you can get.
For my winter tarp I made 4 lines; 2-4' long and 2-6'.
Tied loops at the end and about 1/2 way up.
This gives me one set of loops for storm mode and one set for porch mode.

To stow these lines I just wrap them around the tarp just above the D-ring.

Actually, the other day I saw the title of this thread and was going to post. I decided to make my system first and then post. Turns out, it's the same as yours. I took a foot of shock cord, looped it in half and larks headed it through the d rings on the tarp. I then took my zing-it and tied 6' of it off the shock cord. Seems like it will be effective. On my cloud burst though, I ran 6' lines from each pull out and made 2 additional 6 foot lengths tied to two more shock cord loops. I didn't know if they would need to have tensioners or not, so I made them anyway.

The guylines are:

LineLoc 3s at the tarp edges.
4' of 1/8" diameter nylon cord with a stopper knot at the tarp end and a double half-hitch at the stake end connected to...
8" of shock cord, looped back on itself and tied with a double fisherman's knot to make a tensioner that goes around...
An MSR Groundhog stake.

It's a diamond tarp, so only two stakes/tie-out points.

The central rigging for it is:

Two acetate D-rings at either end with 1/8" diameter nylon cord Klemheist knots tied to them with double fisherman's knots attached to...
A CRL made of 25' of 1/8" diameter polypro cord with...
One mini-'biner at one end and a round turn/slippery double half-hitch at the other end and...
Two mini-'biners clipping the CRL into the hammock suspension to keep the tarp in line with the hammock's ridgeline and prevent water intrusion at the ends of hammock.

It works really well.

Self tensioning guy lines.

• 10 feet of Lash-It attached to pull out
• 12 inches of shock cord tied into a loop
• Lash-It clove hitched to the shock cord near pull out
• Lash-It clove hitched to shock cord at its fully stretched length
• Lash-It clove hitched to tarp stake

Yeah I really like my clove hitches.

Sounds like a slippery half hitch to me.

*prussic looped to stakes

Lately I've been looping 12' of shock cord through the fixed loop and clove hitching the ends as a self tensioning guyline, eliminating the need to tie the shock cord twice

4 stakes,
Prusik knot for the tree ends AND
Prusik knot and self-tensioning line to the stakes.
That's it.

Why? Light, reliable, simple and easy to adjust, no hardware (s-biner will soon be replaced with soft shackle).
Prusik knot is my favorite...slides up/down to allow easy quick adjustment.

-1.8mm spyderline
-five 8 ft sections.
-two 4ft sections (combined to be the 6th guyline. Having them as two pieces allows me to extend the length of one if needed without cutting lines. Or to use at a different loop.)
-a bowline at each end which is then used to attach to the tarp webbing loops (for quick change to different loops)
-2 centerlines are tied to the trees with slippery tautline hitches.
-four side tie outs are also tied to saplings, rocks etc... with slippery tautline hitches.
(note: no stakes, although sometimes a stick will be used)
