I don't think I would be wearing or putting fur on the outside of my hammock especially during hunting season with all the nuts in the woods with guns at that time of the year.

watch out for hungover hunters and amorous Sasquatches, maybe put an orange vest on that bad boy.
I bet it would be warm though

Lol no no the fur is worn on the inside with the liner on the outside. Nobody would even see fur to be honest.

I would put the fur to the outside. Babelfish5 had a picture in the Donating members area with a buffalo hide complete with fur. He said it weighed 15 pounds or so.

I imagine that would make a mighty fine and warm underquilt for any frozen butt hang you would attend.

    Cheers

Agreed but the eskimos wear their fur on the inside against the skin, apparently it traps the air in and keeps them vastly warmer then if it is on the outside. Easy enough to try both ways i guess right?

I have a hat,,that I have had for years,,made from tanned muskrat hides/very silky soft fur on the outside,,,and its so hot,,you can't wear it unless its 0 degrees outside,,and I am bald headed,,but its hot,,lined with thin material on inside...so your fur quilt will be warm as all get out I am betting.. fur on the outside sheds water and looks awesome as well as warm,

Another option for finding more Down comforters, Visit a Dry cleaners, see if they have Old unclaimed down covers laying Or Large wool coats.. Pay the cleaning bill for it.. they might be happy to get money and unclaimed item out of the store. Its what I did.
How did you use the down comforter? I have one but it doesn't pack well
