    Just finished and IX UQ

    Pretty easy really.

Made a 2 layer per the sticky instructions above.

The inner most layer is not permanent and will be removable.
Also going to make a M50 2.5 XP outer layer to clip on the suspension.

Made it with 3" baffles at the ends, and that seems to seal it up pretty nicely.
I have stretch cord going through those to a center grommet and a cord lock.

Hemmed the entire thing with grossgrain with a single grommet in each corner, so that was easy, but if I did it again I think I would use silnylon so it would slide around easier, easier to adjust. PIA to sew though.

Took about 4 hours to make.

1.1 oz digital camo outer shell.

    42" wide x 60" long - 12.2 oz

Will post a few pics on the floor with some detail shots.

Besides sil cord channels which I could still do I think a different baffle
setup with climashield would work better as a seal.

Have not decided how to fasten in the inner removable layer.

Very nicely done! Mind if I ask where the 1.1 camo is from? Looks like the Magna offering.

Yep I bought a short roll of magna digital camo a year or two ago.

Now after fiddling with this UQ a bit more I would rather have silnylon for channels.

The grossgrain is nice and simple, but it grabs the cord. Still as is - Once you set it up that should be about it unless you swap it back and forth between different size hammocks.

    OK, now we believe you!
Looks great! I like the digital camo.

FYI, when I made my IX-UQ, I also started with two layers (two IX + outer cover) and it worked well. But as the season rolled on and temps dropped, I decided to add two more layers for a total of four+cover. So far, so good . . .

Also, I started with full-length shock cord, but migrated to using mason's line thru the UQ with shock cord only at the ends. Seems to work better, but hey - I'm still fiddling (aren't we all?!?)

How low did you go with 2 layers ??
How low with 4 layers ??

I am going to build a M50 2.5 XP UQ for a breathable summer UQ. Also will use the XP UQ on the bottom of this rig but not sure how much extra that will buy me.

2.5XP UQ alone would weigh about 8-9 oz

When I made it, temps were in the 50's at night, pretty mild really. The lowest I've gone since increasing to four layers was 22º. It was comfortable, but with occasional cold spots due to not having the rigging dialed-in quite right. Plus, I was about 5' off a rushing stream, and I use a diamond-asym. tarp which doesn't do a lot to keep the wind out.
