Vapor Barrier Liners vs Integral VB Lining?

There have been a few threads about vapor barriers lately. Some folks use a VB liner with success to eliminate sweat from wetting a sleeping bag/quilt. I have never tried VBs, but have been reading up on them lately. It got me to wondering whether or not an integrated VB would work, like a TQ/UQ with the inner shell made from silnylon or cuben. Any thoughts?

Stephenson Warmlite was one of the early proponents of vapor barriers. They use fuzzy stuff vapor barriers as the inside layer of their sleeping bags.

That would probably work, although part of the effectiveness of VBs is due to their fairly-complete enclosed nature. Making that part of the UQ system would certainly work but probably wouldn't work quite as well as say, a full set of VB clothing, which snugs up and encloses someone a bit better.

Hammockgear has done it with cuben.

Also, I slept in 1f last night wearing my cb clothing system and a 20f top quilt to great success.

I guess there were no thoughts. Perhaps there r ?s.
A lot of us have played with IX. It is considered a vapor barrier. I use it for my UQ & I like it. Very light and compression doesn't seem to be an issue. I'm thinking of ordering more and making a TQ. Jaxhiker, do you like it? If any of you have experience with vapor barriers please tell us what you experienced.

VB bags and liners require the user to forgo clothing for it to work, else all of the moisture not released from the quilts will be trapped in your clothing and result in chilling. I use VB clothing. It allows me to to wear a thin layer of clothing beneath the VB clothing and still have the option of adding other clothing over the VB clothing.

For me, the thought of getting out of my insulation in the morning on an extremely cold day with virtually no clothing is not a very welcome one.

I've been making VB cuben quilts since 2009, they can work great but aren't right for everyone or every situation.

I was concerned that it would be to warm, sweaty. I think ill make a TQ from IX, probably 4 layers. If it doesn't work ill turn it into a full length UQ.
