Total awesomeness no matter where you visit in Glacier. I might even go back this summer sometime myself.

I've never met a Montanan who considers themselves a Midwesterner. *Maybe* east of Miles City...

Fact is, Montana is a region of our own.

Glacier doesn't have many group sites except at the large campgrounds,,most of your backcountry sites will be limited amounts of people,,say from 4 to 12 or so at the most as each campsite is different. Check glaciers website for all of that information as you can download all of it and if you will notice,,say a campsite is good for 8 people,,4 might be walkup reservations, 4 will be pre- registration which is either by phone, mail or the year before in late fall of previous year. In Glacier, in the backcountry,,,you WILL enjoy the peace and solitude the farther you hike from the masses.

Depending on the snow amounts, certain trails might not even be open to hike even by July 1st,,and maybe only open till mid to late Sept. when the early snows come again..so depending on when you go,,and where you want to hike,,don't plan on going in may or early june. the chat forum will show you all of that. And you will have to watch the weather as to even when they open "The Going To The Sun Highway" thru the park.

There are some good campgrounds near, but out of, Glacier around Hungry Horse Reservoir. Some with room enough for a dozen or so campers.

Spent two weeks in Glacier this summer. I did a mixture of backcountry and group sites. Only place I couldn't hang was a group site off of saint Mary's lake. Have a great time... And I highly suggest the remote northwest section of the park.
